Scientific Data about Premature Ejaculation and History of the Disease

Premature ejaculation is a constant or often repeated ejaculation that occurs as a result of minimal sexual stimulation, before, during, or immediately after introduction of penis into vagina, and before a man wants.

Most Canada Pharmacy experts believe that average duration of sexual intercourse should be at least 2 – 3 minutes. At this precoital ejaculation (before introduction of penis into vagina), of course, is premature.

Causes of premature ejaculation:

  • psychological (beginning of sex life, unsuccessful experience in the past);
  • neurophysiological (increased excitability of motor neurons of spinal ejaculation center);
  • hormonal (increased blood levels of prolactin);
  • hypersensitivity of individual areas of penis at inflammatory and other diseases.premature ejaculation history

Prevalence of the Disease

Premature ejaculation is a common sexual dysfunction in men; however, due to time differences necessary for ejaculation and duration of sex desired by partners, the exact prevalence of premature ejaculation is difficult to determine.

In «Sex in America» surveys (1999 and 2008), researchers at University of Chicago found that between adolescence and 59 years, approximately 30% of men reported experiencing premature ejaculation at least once during the last 12 months, while about 10% reported erectile dysfunction. Although erectile dysfunction is the most common sexual problem in men after 60 years of age, and may be more common than premature ejaculation in general, it is estimated that premature ejaculation remains a serious problem and, according to the survey, affects 28% of men aged 65 – 74 years and 22 percent of men aged 75 – 85 years.

Other studies report prevalence of premature ejaculation, ranging from 3 to 41% in men over the age of 18, but the vast majority estimate prevalence of 20 to 30%, which makes premature ejaculation a very common sexual problem.

There is a common misconception that young people are more likely to suffer from premature ejaculation, and that prevalence of the disease decreases with age. My Canadian Pharmacy studies have shown, however, that prevalence of premature ejaculation is constant in all age groups.

History of Premature Ejaculation Problem

Other mammals quickly ejaculate during intercourse. This fact prompted biologists to declare that rapid ejaculation enters male genetic makeup in order to increase chances of survival of their genes.

Written evidence on issues related to ejaculatory control, have been encountered for more than 1500 years. In Kamasutra, an Indian sex reference book of the 4th century, we can find: «Women love a man whose sexual energy has long duration, and they are angered by a man whose energy ends quickly, because he stops before they reach climax.» Sexologist Alfred Kinsey did not consider rapid ejaculation a problem, but considered it as a sign of «male power», which is not always amenable to treatment. Confidence that premature ejaculation should be seen as a disease, and not as a normal variation, is also contested by some modern researchers.
